Cellino Water Treatment is a division of Cellino Plumbing. We service all makes and models of water treatment equipment for residents of Buffalo, NY and the surrounding areas.
Buffalo's #1 Source for Water Treatment Solutions
For over 20 years, Cellino Plumbing has been servicing WNY's residential plumbing needs. In that time, we realized most of the plumbing repairs required were mostly due to the quality of the water.
Why Is Water Treatment Needed?
According to EPA's standards, Erie County and Buffalo have high levels of water hardness, causing faucets to leak prematurely, hot water tanks to be less efficient and appliances to have a shortened lifespan.
Another issue we found was chlorine in the water, added by water treatment plants as a disinfectant. Over time, we became experts at treating municipal water, but realized we were not as well-suited to treat well water. To remedy this, Cellino Plumbing teamed up with Water Treatment Contractor of the Year, Scott Hillman.
20+ Years of Industry Experience
Scott has been in the industry for over 20 years and has received many awards for his knowledge and experience. Each week, he trains his team of plumbers on the basics of water treatment while simultaneously directing Cellino Plumbing's own water treatment experts.

What Water Symptoms Are Cause for Concern?
- Hard Water: There are many signs that you may have hard water. If you notice a white scale buildup around faucets or have valves that are hard to turn, hard water is most likely the culprit.
- Water Odor: An unpleasant water odor can be prevalent in both municipal and well water. The most common odors are caused by chlorine or sulfur.
- Water Stains: Water stains can be the cause of many contaminants in water. However, in WNY the most common cause is iron. If you notice stains, call us to come out and perform a water test.
- Sediment: Sediment includes sand, gravel, and iron flakes from pipes found in water. We generally use a spin out separator to treat sediment.
- Dry Skin: Dry skin is generally caused by hard water or chlorinated water. In WNY, dry skin is very prevalent with our water quality. In order to treat this, we'll likely recommend treating the water with a whole house system.
- Water Discoloration: Depending on the color of your water, it can mean there is a different cause. For example, yellow or tan means tannins from decaying vegetation; gray means sulfides or manganese; blue/green means the water is acidic; red/orange likely means the water contains iron.
- Poor Taste: Poor water taste is as common in municipal water as it is in well water. There are a variety of reasons for this including chlorine.
- Bacteria: Two main bacterias in water include coliforms and e-coli, both harmful and can easily go undetected. While it is commonly treated with chemicals, we generally use a UV system to treat and sterilize the bacteria.
- Chlorine: Chlorine is added to municipal water to prevent bacteria growth, but it can have harmful effects on the body, among other issues.
